If You Could See Me Now
I have been wrestling with letting go and forgiving. This poem has really helped me gain some closure

You are a giant caution sign on
The road I am sauntering down
with my drink in one hand and my dart in the other
There is so many parallels between my love for you
and my addiction
let me create a clear depiction
I want no part of this debauchery
you make a mockery of anyone who comes to close
fight flight or freeze —
I was a kid swallowing Pepsi and peppermints
and waiting patiently to explode….
Forgive the scars
They themselves are not an art
created from the aesthetic parts
of a human brain and heart
A giant question mark
made when my heart grows ears to hear
and fists to clench
