From Baby to Boy

From baby to boy

squishy rolls and chortled giggles

That cascade down from your little

baby smile –

Right. Into. My soul.

From baby to boy

How fast you grow

You are all square angles now

Elbows and knees

But your eyes still shine

When you gaze at me

“Don’t push me!” – you shout!

On the swing

As you pump and you fling

Yourself into the sky

I can see your creativity flourish

& I glow with pride

I wasn’t there the whole time

But God gave me the gift of being your mother

Not once, but twice

He smiles too, I imagine

At your lego designs &

Cardboard creations

He gave you the most beautiful imagination

Confident

Capable

Brimming with joy

I am watching you grow

From baby to boy.
