A Lament

There Are some days

Where my hummingbird thoughts

Are restless and race

They flutter and pace

Where absolute inner peace

Is just out of my

Reach

On these days

I pray harder

I make up for my pain

By increasing my ardor

I close my eyes

And imagine heaven

In all

Of its splendour

Pearly gates and a love so tender

It washes away every last bit of doubt

And sin

And shame

Take my sadness

Take my pain

Take my madness

Make me sane

By the blood of Christ

Take me home

I don’t anymore want

To feel alone.
